This blog is created to raise awareness about the importance and value of libraries among the people of our country, special importance is given to exhibit contribution of health science librarians in health and social care within institutions and in nation building.
The health science librarians provide information resources to support health care. They encourage widespread use of health information among doctors, medical students, nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, social workers and researchers.
The technological advancement has enabled libraries to move beyond the four walls of a building, as a result, we, the librarians strive to meet the health information needs of a larger community and try to amend health information delivery at every region, so that people live better, healthier, happier and more productive lives.

Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information (LILACS)

This virtual library is a comprehensive database of Health Sciences from Latin America and Caribbean Region. It has large number of records from peer reviewed journals, thesis and dissertations, government documents, books etc of those published since 1982.
This database covers systematic reviews, randomized controlled trials, evidence synthesis, health technology evaluation studies, economic evaluation studies, clinical practice guidelines, technical reports, case reports and other materials of significance for health care professionals.
This site is maintained and updated by a network comprising of over 600 educational, government and health research institutions coordinated by BIREME/PAHO/WHO.

BIREME stands for Biblioteca Regional de Medicina also known as the Regional Library of Medicine. It is a specialized center of the Pan American Health Organization and World Health Organization committed to technical cooperation in management of health scientific information. This center is situated in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It promotes democratization of access, publication and use of scientific information, knowledge and evidence.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)

The PAHO is a specialized international health agency that works to improve and protect people's health.
