The health science librarians provide information resources to support health care. They encourage widespread use of health information among doctors, medical students, nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, social workers and researchers.
The technological advancement has enabled libraries to move beyond the four walls of a building, as a result, we, the librarians strive to meet the health information needs of a larger community and try to amend health information delivery at every region, so that people live better, healthier, happier and more productive lives.

World No Tobacco Day 2012 poster: tobacco industry interference
WHO : Tobacco industry interference is the theme of this year’s World No Tobacco Day, which takes place on 31 May 2012.

The campaign will focus on the need to expose and counter the tobacco industry's brazen and increasingly aggressive attempts to undermine global tobacco control efforts.

World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day : 30 th May 

 AIIMS  to set up Multiple Sclerosis database -The All India Medical Institute of Sciences (AIIMS) will  set up a national registry for multiple sclerosis (MS), a rare autoimmune disease,that affects the brain and spinal cord. ”The neurology centre at AIIMS  is seeing more MS patients residing in tier I and tier II cities from across the country. Therefore efforts are being made to collate the data and understand the disease from an Indian perspective.

Attributes of knowledge

There are various attributes (characteristics) to knowledge.According to Holsapple, “An attribute is a dimension along which different instances of knowledge can vary. In any particular instance, the knowledge being studied or used can have multiple attributes…An appreciation of multiple knowledge attributes enriches one’s understanding of knowledge resources and their processing… Attributes do not tell us what knowledge is or what knowledge resources exist.They do, however, help us to understand the many qualities of knowledge.

Nobel Prize


Frederick Sanger is the only Nobel Laureate who has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry twice, in 1958 and 1980.

In the year 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, Thomas A. Steitz and Ada E. Yonath for having showed what the ribosome looks like and how it functions at the atomic level. All three have used a method called X-ray crystallography to map the position for each and every one of the hundreds of thousands of atoms that make up the ribosome.
